Even though Poe pays money for his dog to get a lot of exercise at a kennel, there's times when he wants to take him out, just the two of them, without even BB-8. Today, he's outfitted for a run and K-9 is eager for the exercise, practically leaping as Poe gets ready. It's bitter and biting, but once he really gets going, he's warm enough from the run. Back when he'd first joined the Resistance, he ran with the other troops, making sure that he didn't just become a pilot only. He wanted to really own the name of 'Commander' and make sure that he'd earned the respect of the people he served with.
It's been a long time since those runs and he's feeling it, from the stitch in his side to the way he's panting so easily even though it's only been half the distance he normally goes. K-9 doesn't seem to have expended any energy at all, making him feel that much older.
He's half bent over and trying to catch his breath when he feels the leash tug away from him, K-9 escaping to greet someone nearby. "Hey, buddy, whoa!" he says, panicking the dog is going to bolt, when Coop glances up and sees that K-9's found Philip, of all people. The man looks better than the last time they'd met, but then again, it'd be hard not to.
"Sorry," he apologizes, darting over to try and wind the leash back around his hand. "I think he's mad at me for not having better stamina."
